Instrumentation (INST)

This central facility caters to the material / chemical analysis needs of research, within and outside the Institute. The Division undertakes research and developmental activities in the field of instrumentation and related aspects, provides advanced instrument facilities for analysis M I and measurement to users from industries, R&D establishments and academic institutions, co-operate with professionals and academic staff in frontier areas of instrumentation and undertakes training and services for personnel from industries, R&D establishments and academic institutions.

The Division is equipped with highly sophisticated laboratory facilities to carry out spectroscopic measurements, material/chemical characterization and structure analysis. Some of the sophisticated equipments available are :

Gas Chromatography - Mass Spectrometer

Particle Size Analyser

UV - Vis. Spectrophotometer

Auto Analyser

Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer

Block Digester

Universal Testing Machine

FT-NIR Spectrophotometer

Gel Electrophoresis System

The Division also conducts seminars and demonstrations on changing trends in analytical instrumentation and material analysis. Soil organic carbon fractions, standardization and estimation of DNA, Guanine and Cytocin contents from actinomycetes and bacterial cultures are done using HPLC. In addition to the above equipments/ instruments, all the basic sample preparation units are also available in the facility.
